It all started fifty years ago, when I first came to Venice, Italy as a college student. Wake Forest University was offered a small palace on the Grand Canal, a former US Consulate. The idea was to use it as a s branch of the university for study abroad. The students that first year helped create the space both for education and for residential purposes.
